Abstract
Renewable energy and smart devices are two important pillars of modern technological advancement. For our project, we have combined the two and created a device which harnesses the power of footsteps to charge a power bank. Additionally, it connects to smartphones via an app and displays the number of steps taken and the voltage generated with each step- essentially acting as an accurate pedometer. It uses piezo technology to produce power, and uses an Arduino-based circuit to interface with smartphones. This device can be useful in situations when your phone runs out of battery when travelling on foot outdoors, by essentially acting as a reserve, automatically charging power bank. Because of its capability to interface with smartphones and its power generating feature, we have named it the “Smart Shoe”.
