Abstract
‘Save energy, save the environment’ is the emerging motto of this century. The power plant is one of the reasons for increasing global temperature also. Natural resources are also decreasing day by day because of oil plants. A smart electric meter can serve the purpose. Every day, a lot of energy is being wasted because of our forgetting habit. In this project, we have implemented an electricity consumption monitoring system which will collect our everyday usage and notify us if we use more than expected or preset budget. We can see the real time power consumption of electric devices. User of this system can set the limit according to budget. This system will also turn off all kinds of unnecessary loads if no one is around. The system also has a user web portal where users can monitor usage history and plan for the future. This smart meter is expected to make a huge savings of electricity in our day to day life and will make the planet more livable.
