Mumin Ullah; Helal AhammadWith the increasing importance of understanding the social complexities of organizational problems in business organizations, the interpretive research paradigm has started to gain momentum in business and management research. Lots of debates and discussions have taken place among academics and researchers in regard to the nature and uses of interpretive paradigm, especially its uses within organizational settings. This conceptual paper attempts to explore the interpretive research paradigm in business and management research from a philosophical perspective. Alternatively, the paper tends to explain how the interpretive paradigm affects the choices of research approaches and strategies in business and management. The paper is concluded with a discussion of the implications of choosing an interpretive paradigm in business research. The paper is expected to contribute to the existing literature on research methodology to a large extent. Academics, particularly early career researchers, and doctoral students will benefit from this study.
