dc.description.abstractThe Confucius Institute at North South University (CI at NSU), founded collaboratively by North South University, Bangladesh and Yunnan University, China, has been in operation since 2006. It is the first CI in South Asia and one of the first Cls in the world. The CI at NSU also partners with other Bangladeshi institutions in all levels of education throughout the country. Currently, it has such partnerships with University of Rajshahi, Asian University for Women, International Islamic University Chittagong, and Bangladesh International Tutorial. In addition, CI at NSU organizes Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), observes Chinese cultural events, organizes cultural exchange programs, and provides scholarships to Chinese language students at North South University. Furthermore, CI at NSU actively supports NSU to offer Chinese language courses for all of its students to fulfill general educational requirement.
