Department of Economics

The Department of Economics at North South University (NSU), established in 1992 under the School of Business and Economics, is one of the leading and research-active economics departments in Bangladesh. Renowned for its academic excellence, the department integrates strong theoretical foundations with advanced empirical methods to prepare students for careers in research, policy-making, and industry.

With a highly qualified faculty and a vibrant research culture supported by initiatives such as the Brown Bag Seminar Series, the department promotes continuous knowledge exchange and scholarly engagement. It offers a range of academic programs including BS in Economics, MS in Economics, and Master in Development Studies, along with opportunities to major in Economics within the BBA program.

Graduates of the department have a strong track record in employment and higher education, securing positions in national and international organizations as well as admission to top global universities. The department is also recognized as the first in Bangladesh to offer ACBSP-accredited economics programs, reflecting its commitment to international academic standards.
