University Grants Commission of Bangladesh member Professor Tanzim Uddin was chief guest at the opening ceremony. Guest of honour of the ceremony was Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor, North South University, and AKM Zabed, COO, Dekko Foods Ltd. Special Guests of the ceremony was Khandker Md Nahin Mamun, chairperson and assistant professor, department of marketing and international business, North South University. Associate Professor M Abdullah Al Mamun, chief adviser, Business Genius Bangladesh, was the chair of the ceremony. The event’s event management partner was the Federation of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management while the debate management partner was Bangladesh Debate Warriors.

Shinnusuke Tasaka, programme manager of B-JET, introduced the 34 newly selected trainees who underwent a competitive selection process, said a press release. B-JET equips trainees with Japanese language proficiency, cultural insights, study techniques, business etiquette, and technical knowledge.

Through this alliance, BRAC Bank will implement a tuition fee collection system for NSU through universal collection platform. To this end, BRAC Bank deputy managing director and corporate and institutional banking head Tareq Refat Ullah Khan and North South University vice-chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury signed an agreement at NSU premises in Dhaka recently. The cash management solution will also provide real-time transaction updates to enhance transparency and accuracy and allow for immediate reconciliation, the release said.

The NSU has once again secured its position as one of the leading universities in Bangladesh in the ranking. Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury stated that this milestone reflected the collective effort and commitment of NSU students, faculty, staff and alumni who continually strived for academic excellence and innovation.

The day began with the screening of the Chinese film ‘The Truth 1’ at the NSU main auditorium. Vice-chancellor of the NSU Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury expressed his gratitude to the cast and crew of ‘Utsab’ for their presence and praised the initiative as an important cultural exchange. The spotlight shifted to Bangladesh film industry with a special screening of ‘Utsab’, which drew attention with the presence of director Tanim Noor and film artistes Sadia Ayman, Syeda Tuhin Ara and Zahid Hasan. As part of the Dhaka–China Day 2025 celebrations, the film festival will continue until 25 September, with more screenings and discussions planned to engage audiences in both traditional and modern cinematic expressions from Bangladesh and China.

General secretary of Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum professor Milton Biswas presented the keynote paper at the seminar. NSU vice-chancellor professor Atiqul Islam presided over the programme.
