He was 67. His namaz-e-janaza was held at the NSU plaza area on Sunday evening. After completing his Master’s from the University of Waterloo in Canada, M Emdadul Haque joined the teaching profession at Chittagong University in 1982.

- ItemOpen AccessNSU stands by Khairul injured in quota reform movement(New Age, 2024-08-13) New AgeThe North South University authority is monitoring a former student of the university, Khairul Alam, who is on life support at a hospital in Dhaka after he was injured on August 5 while participating in the student movement for quota reform. A NSU press release on Monday said that the university authority provided financial assistance, and would take full responsibility for the treatment of Khairul, who was on life support due to bleeding in the brain as well as lung failure. A guest worker of the NSU Career and Placement Center, Khairul has been fighting for his life for the past seven days. The NSU vice-chancellor Atiqul Islam said, ‘We are shocked and worried about the incident. We have already provided financial assistance, and the university will take full responsibility for his treatment.’ The CPC director Khasru Mia visited him at the hospital on behalf of the university, and talked to Khairul’s family.
