- ItemOpen AccessNSU, British Council award scholarships to IELTS candidates(New Nation, 2024-05-17) New NationNorth South University, in collaboration with the British Council, held a scholarship award ceremony for IELTS exam candidates at its campus. The event recognized three outstanding students: Md. Parvez Hasan Yousuf, Md. Mostafa Azad, and Atiqa Labiba, each of whom was awarded a scholarship of BDT 25,000 for their participation in the IELTS exam administered at the university. The ceremony saw attendance from prominent figures from both organizations. From the British Council, Mr. Maxim Raimann, Country Exams Director for Bangladesh, Ms. Tabassum Chowdhury, Manager of Business Pursuit, Mr. Sazzad Hossain Siam, Business Pursuit Officer, and Mr. Jubair Nayeem, Marketing Manager of exams for the South Asia Cluster, were present.
- ItemOpen AccessResearch workshop on SSCI Journal publications held(New Nation, 2024-05-25) New NationThe Department of Economics at North South University (NSU) with the help of NSU Young Economists’ Forum (YEF) hosted a research workshop titled “Conversation with an Editor of SSCI Journals”. The event, which is part of the SBE (School of Business and Economics) Research Workshop Series, was held at the Syndicate Hall of NSU, according to a press release. The speaker was Professor Niaz Asadullah, a visiting professor of economics at the University of Reading, UK, and a professorial fellow in the Department of Economics at NSU.
- ItemOpen AccessWorld peace day observed at NSU(New Nation, 2024-09-22) New NationWorld Peace Day has been observed in the North South University (NSU) in a befitting manner with renewed pledge to build a new Bangladesh. On the occasion a roundtable discussion, peace rally, tree plantation, release of pigeons and film screening programmes were arranged in the university campus. Addressing the discussion Vice Chancellor of the NSU Prof. Abdul Hannan urged the students to break the barriers which were created over the years in the country’s socioeconomic and political system. Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) of the NSU arranged the discussion participated by leaders of Anti-discrimination Students Movement. Anti-discrimination Students Movement’s coordinator of Dhaka University Al Mudasir Chowdhury, Jahangirnagar University student Prapti Taposhi, BRAC University student Afia Jannant Anannya and East West University student Asif Adnan took part in the discussion. Social Science Department Assistant Professor and CPS coordinator Dr Abdul Wahab coordinated the roundtable discussion.
