- ItemOpen AccessNSU holds International Chinese Language Day photography competition(Dhaka Tribune, 2023-05-19) Dhaka TribuneIn a collaborative effort to foster cultural exchange and strengthen bilateral ties, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh, the Confucius Institute at North South University (NSU), and NSU Art and Photography Club successfully organized a photography competition. The event, held at NSU, commenced with the welcome speech delivered by Ma Xiaoyan, the Chinese director of Confucius Institute at NSU, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Dignitaries in attendance included Dr M Ismail Hossain, pro-vice chancellor of NSU, Yue Liwen, cultural counsellor of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh, Dr Bulbul Siddiqi, local director of Confucius Institute at NSU, Ma Xiaoyan, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at NSU, and Dr Saiful Islam, faculty advisor of NSUAPC.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, the Information Office of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, was inaugurated Wednesday. An inaugural ceremony for the China-South Asia Center for Sociocultural Studies (CSCSS) was also conducted during an official visit of a Chinese delegation. Department of Political Science and Sociology (PSS), the South Asian Institute of Policy & Governance (SIPG), and the Confucius Institute of North South University (CINSU) jointly organised the event.

The event was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at North South University and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh at North-South University. This event aimed to introduce students to the cultural significance of Chinese New Year and Chinese dumplings while providing them with a hands-on experience of making and tasting dumplings, reads a press release.
