Highlighting the leadership roles of NSU alumni in business, finance, law, technology, development, media, academia, and public policy across cities such as Dhaka, Singapore, London, Toronto, and Sydney, he said, their work reflects Bangladesh’s booming presence as a source of skilled and globally competitive leadership. University Grants Commission chairman Professor SMA Faiz was the convocation speaker and UGC member Professor Mohammad Anwar Hossen was the special guest.
- ItemOpen AccessNSU holds freshers orientation programme Fall 2025 Semester(New Age, 2025-09-18) New AgeNorth South University hosted its fall semester orientation programme on its campus in Dhaka on Wednesday. In the programme, 94 students were awarded scholarships at varying rates, including 100 per cent merit scholarships granted to 35 students in recognition of their exceptional performance in the admission test. Md Mokhles Ur Rahman, senior secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, attended the event as chief guest. NSU board of trustees of chairman Aziz Al Kaiser attended as special guest while NSU board of trustees member Benajir Ahmed attended as guest of honour at the event, which was chaired by NSU vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury. NSU registrar Ahmed Tazmeen delivered the welcome speech to the new students.

The orientation was attended by Professor Md Rizwanul Islam, dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences; SM Rezwan Ul Alam, associate professor and chairperson, Department of Media Communication and Journalism; Rizwan Khair, associate professor and chairperson, Department of Political Science and Sociology, along with all faculty members of DMCJ. Students and faculty members were introduced to one another during the session, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Khalilur Rahman, National Security Adviser and High Representative for the Rohingya Issue, Chief Adviser’s Office, attended the event as the chief guest. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of NSU, served as the session chair. A total of 68 students were awarded scholarships at various levels, including 23 recipients of 100 percent merit scholarships, in recognition of their outstanding performance in the bachelor’s (Honours) admission test.
