10th int’l business genius Bangladesh held at NSU

Business Genius Bangladesh organised the Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology presents ‘10th International Business Genius Bangladesh 2025’ at the auditorium of North South University in Dhaka on Saturday. University Grants Commission of Bangladesh member Professor Tanzim Uddin was chief guest at the opening ceremony. Guest of honour of the ceremony was Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor, North South University, and AKM Zabed, COO, Dekko Foods Ltd. Special Guests of the ceremony was Khandker Md Nahin Mamun, chairperson and assistant professor, department of marketing and international business, North South University. Associate Professor M Abdullah Al Mamun, chief adviser, Business Genius Bangladesh, was the chair of the ceremony. The event’s event management partner was the Federation of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management while the debate management partner was Bangladesh Debate Warriors.

53 pc favours interim Govt tenure 2 yrs or less: Survey - 96 pc limiting PM's tenure

53 percent of voters think that the term of the interim government should be two years or less. Such information has emerged in a survey conducted by South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University (NSU). SIPG announced the results of the survey in a seminar titled 'National Survey 2024: Citizens' Expectations from the Interim Government of Bangladesh' at the National Press Club on Wednesday. The Chief Guest of the Electoral System Reform Commission and Secretary of Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan) was Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar. SIPG advisor Prof. Salahuddin M. also spoke at the seminar chaired by Prof. Mahbubur Rahman, chairman of the history and philosophy department of North South University. Aminuzzaman, North South University Political Science and Sociology Department Professor Navin Murshid and others.

The event was organized by the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (SEPS) in collaboration with the NSU ACM Student Chapter and the IEEE NSU Student Branch. Benajir Ahmed, founder life member of NSU, and panellists, including Hasibur Rashid, CEO, Intercloud Limited; Mohammad Nahidul Karim, ICT ministry; Mohammad Tawrit, CEO, BdREN; Safwat Ahmed, Selise Digital Platforms; and M Rokonuzzaman, professor, NSU, attended the discussion as special guests. The session chair was Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of NSU.

Alokito Teacher, NSU sign MoU to enhance teacher education in Bangladesh

This appointment was announced in a notification of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education last Sunday. Atiqul Islam will serve as Vice-Chancellor till February 22, 2028. NSU Board of Trustees Chairman Javed Munir Ahmed congratulated Atiqul Islam on his re-appointment as Vice-Chancellor. Atiqul Islam serves as the Executive Dean and Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) of the Faculty of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. He has served at the University of Sydney, NSW, Curtin University, Canterbury University and National University Singapore. Atiqul Islam graduated from Dhaka University with First Class and Post Graduate Degree. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney.

Azim Uddin Ahmed passes away

Azim Uddin Ahmed, founder life member and former chairman of the Board of Trustees, North South University, passed away in Singapore yesterday. He was 85. The NSU community including members of the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, students, and alumni extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the eternal peace of his departed soul.

B-JET Centre begins 13th batch at NSU

The Career and Placement Center (CPC) of the North South University hosted the opening ceremony of the 13th batch of the Bangladesh Japan ICT Engineers Training Programme (B-JET) on Monday. Shinnusuke Tasaka, programme manager of B-JET, introduced the 34 newly selected trainees who underwent a competitive selection process, said a press release. B-JET equips trainees with Japanese language proficiency, cultural insights, study techniques, business etiquette, and technical knowledge.
