Atiqul Islam reappointed as NSU VC

Professor Dr. Atiqul Islam has been reappointed as Vice Chancellor of North South University (NSU). Acharya President of the University. Sahabuddin appointed this. This appointment was announced in a notification of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education last Sunday. Atiqul Islam will serve as Vice-Chancellor till February 22, 2028. NSU Board of Trustees Chairman Javed Munir Ahmed congratulated Atiqul Islam on his re-appointment as Vice-Chancellor. Atiqul Islam serves as the Executive Dean and Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) of the Faculty of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. He has served at the University of Sydney, NSW, Curtin University, Canterbury University and National University Singapore. Atiqul Islam graduated from Dhaka University with First Class and Post Graduate Degree. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney.

Apart from this, he was the Executive Director of NSU's External Relations, Director of BBA Program, Syndicate Member and Director of Career Services. Porf Abdul Hannan Chowdhury previoudly served as Vice-Chancellor of Prime Asia University and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury has 34 years of teaching and research experience in various universities of the world including Bangladesh, Canada, USA. He served as Chairman and Director of Grameen Bank.

According to the decision of the emergency board meeting on August 28, the board of trustees of the university has appointed Abdur Rob Khan as acting vice-chancellor. Professor Abdur Rob Khan has been serving as the treasurer of the university.

নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটির (এনএসইউ) উপাচার্য পদে পুনরায় নিয়োগ পেয়েছেন অধ্যাপক ড: আতিকুল ইসলাম। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আচার্য রাষ্ট্রপতি মো. সাহাবুদ্দিন এ নিয়োগ দিয়েছেন। গত রোববার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চ শিক্ষা বিভাগের এক প্রজ্ঞাপনে এ নিয়োগের কথা জানানো হয়। আতিকুল ইসলাম এই মেয়াদে ২০২৮ সালের ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত উপাচার্যের দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন। উপাচার্য হিসেবে পুনরায় নিয়োগ পাওয়ায় আতিকুল ইসলামকে শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন এনএসইউ বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজের চেয়ারম্যান জাভেদ মুনির আহমেদ। আতিকুল ইসলাম অস্ট্রেলিয়ার পার্থের এডিথ কোয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটির ব্যবসা ও আইন অনুষদের নির্বাহী ডিন এবং সহ–উপাচার্য (এনগেজমেন্ট) হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। তিনি ইউনিভার্সিটি অব সিডনি, এনএসডব্লিউ, কার্টিন ইউনিভার্সিটি, ক্যানটারবেরি ইউনিভার্সিটি এবং ন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি সিঙ্গাপুরে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। আতিকুল ইসলাম ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে প্রথম শ্রেণিতে স্নাতক এবং স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। সিডনি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন।

উচ্চশিক্ষায় আগ্রহী শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে শিক্ষামেলা অনুষ্ঠিত

শুক্রবার (১ নভেম্বর) হোটেল সারিনায় আয়োজিত মেলায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন নর্থ সাউথ ইউনিভার্সিটির অধ্যাপক ও উপাচার্য ড. আব্দুল হান্নান চৌধুরী। দুদিনব্যাপী এ মেলা চলবে শনিবার পর্যন্ত। আয়োজকরা জানান, এই শিক্ষামেলাটি বিদেশে উচ্চশিক্ষায় আগ্রহী শিক্ষার্থী ও তাদের অভিভাবকদের জন্য উন্মুক্ত রয়েছে। মেলায় আসা শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য রয়েছে যুক্তরাজ্য, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, কানাডা, অস্ট্রেলিয়া, মালয়েশিয়া, দুবাই, জাপান, সুইডেন, দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া, ভারতসহ বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রতিনিধি ও ১০টি এডুকেশন কনসালটেন্সির সঙ্গে সরাসরি কথা বলার সুযোগ।
